Hi there! I’m Sam, a new mom and new blogger from Connecticut. Mamabear & Babycakes will be a lifestyle blog about everything from motherhood to home decor to budgeting!

I had a beautiful little baby boy September of 2020 named Maxwell. I absolutely LOVE everything about being a new mom, and from the minute I met Max I knew my life had changed forever. There was a lot that I didn’t know though, and I’m going to use this blog to share some of my experiences, tips and tricks for new motherhood. It may have only been a few months with my baby so far, but I learn something new every day that I’m with him, and hopefully my posts will help my readers learn some of the things I didn’t know or wasn’t prepared for.

I also feel like every time something happens with Max, I look for other moms that have gone through what I’m going though, so hopefully this will be a place that other moms can come to relate to things that I have gone through.

My husband and I also just bought a fixer upper that we have big plans for, and after renovating our last house little by little (and all on our own!) and seeing how much our friends loved it and wanted to know more about how we did each project, I plan to share some of our home updates and how-to’s as well. I usually decorate with DIY projects as well, so any time I create anything I’ll be sure to post about it!

Another big DIY area for me is that I make diaper cakes and gift cakes, hence the name babycakes. When I was starting out making these, I had some trouble finding good tutorials. Since then I’ve made so many different types of diaper cakes so I’ll be posting tutorials for all the different kinds that I have made so anyone that wants to make one easily can!

Having a baby and renovating a house tends to be pretty expensive, but we’re doing all of this on a budget! I can be very frugal (my friends all think I’m crazy and dare I say cheap!!) but I LOVE a good coupon code or sale, so any time I can share our budgeting or good deals I find, I will.
